SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - The NJIT track and field teams set several records Sunday morning competing at the Seton Hall Last Chance Open.
Freshman Amanda Hefferan continues her comeback breaking two records. In the mile run she placed first with a time of 5:23.93 and in the 1000 meter run she crossed the finish line with a time of 3:16.60, good for third place.
Lesley Hendricks ties her own record in the 200 meter run (27.90) while Nicole Kerrison breaks the freshman record with a time of (28.57)in the 200.
Newcomer Jaqueline Bunner made her day view tying the high jump record at 4'6 and broke the long jump record with a jump of 12'6, placing seventh for the Highlanders.
Senior Denaya Hemingway set a personal record in the shot with a throw of 34'10 while Katherine Joseph set a season-best in the 400 meter run with a 1:05.74 time.
NJIT's Josh Dolica broke the school-record in the shot put with a throw of 41'0. Aki Oyawusi set a personal best in the 60 meter dash.
Jamil Wilkins finished with a season best in the 60 meter hurdles while Brad Leonhardt ran a season best in the mile with a sixth place finish.
Drew Pennyfeather recorded a season best in the 800 meter run as Byron Smith notched a season best in the 500 meter dash.
Rizzaq Manley finished fourth in the shot put just below teammate Dolisch with a throw of 40'9.
The NJIT men's distance medley relay will be competing in their first IC4A Championships this Saturday in Boston, MA.
