Coastal Carolina Beats Every Highlander but Doci



Iulia Doci won at #1 singles and #1 doubles

FORT MYERS, FL - NJIT's top women's tennis player, junior Iulia Doci, was a winner at first singles and first doubles, but she was the only Highlander to score a point in a 6-1 loss to Coastal Carolina Thursday, as NJIT wrapped up its three-match Spring Break trip to Florida.

Doci, who is 14-2 in singles match play this season, defeated Coastal Carolina's Amy Pazahanick, 7-5, 6-0, to score the only point of the day for NJIT.

Early, Doci and Isha Toor defeated Pazahanick and Maria Camberos, 8-2, in first singles, but Coastal Carolina claimed the doubles point with wins in the second and third slots.

The Chanticleers (7-3) also won the second through sixth singles spots to get their other five points in the 6-1 team win.

The third and fourth singles each went to three sets, but Coastal Carolina prevailed each time. Tina Petkova (#3) defeated NJIT's Fatima Kasem, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 and Sofie Ahlberg (#4) was a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 winner over Fanny Aizier.

The Highlanders (11-5) are scheduled to visit Wagner on Wednesday with a start time of 3 pm on Staten Island.
